Greg Siese is an emerging artist known for his dynamic depictions of nature. His work takes us on an inspiring journey of raw emotion, evident from his effervescent style through contrasting representations of tempestuous sea and tranquil countryside expanses.
"For me, art is all about emotion. I want my paintings to scream back at the observer using an intricate colour palette and various stroke methods."
His latest showcase is a seamless blend of crashing waves, hostile winds and vigorous energy portrayed in the shores of the British Isles. His methods include the use of intricate angles, with aggressive brush strokes and scraping palette knives.
A marriage of energy and movement, his work primarily takes inspiration from his early childhood, with paintings reminiscent of family beach outings with his four brothers in tow. It is these nostalgic experiences that drive his creative passion and underpins his distinctive work.
"Our dad would reward our weekly Brighton swim in the bitter sea with a 1/-Shilling Knickerbocker glory ice cream... it used to warm us up!"
Greg has been a frequent and extensive traveller for more than 25 years, yet his latest passion for painting has taken a journey on itself; an adventure deeply embedded in place at any hour of the day or night.
"I like big canvases to express oneself and offer proportion. My mind observes and firmly captures images of the sea. When I’m back at the studio, all hell breaks loose and the painting starts… usually at 4 in the morning!"
